Washing My Heart

coconut2.jpgI drank straight from this coconut today, and my new friend Basil from Fashion TV Canada told me that Jamaicans say that drinking from a coconut is washing your heart because it's so purifying. How sweet is that? I'm considering this my Rio health routine.

Beth Kephart Chats!

Join readergirlz tomorrow (Weds) night for a LIVE! chat with Beth Kephart, the first readergirlz Author-in-Residence!rgzbeth.jpg Here's the thing about Beth: She blogs like a dream (seriously, check it out), she dances, she takes amazing photographs, and she writes incredible, lyrical books. Yes, I'm jealous (but in the admiring sense, not in the evil way). So if you've ever wanted insight into a fantastic writer's tips and methods and wise words, you should be at this chat. Her books? They rule. (See some reviews by My Friend Amy, Em's Bookshelf and a vlog by me!) The Beth chat is Wednesday, 6 p.m. PST/9 p.m. EST, right at the readergirlz blog. Don't miss it!

Readergirlz in January: E. Lockhart!

There is an amazing month at Readergirlz. We're focusing on The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks, one of my very favorite books, and talking to author E. Lockhart all month about her inspirations, interpretations and things like music, book party ideas and what goes on in her writerly world.Thumbnail image for rgz ad January 2010.jpg Join in on the blog discussions and definitely read this book! Also note the LIVE chat with E. Lockhart will happen on January 20th at 9pm EST/6pm PST. Fun, fun. Oh, and, Elizabeth Scott is the new readergirlz writer-in-residence! She follows the amazing Beth Kephart, and I can't wait to see the new writing challenges. Happy Sunday!

My Reading in Color Holiday Book Exchange Gift!

perfectshotcover.jpgI signed up for Ari's Reading in Color Holiday Book Exchange, and I just got my gift from the lovely Kelsey (The Book Scout). It's a copy of Debbie Rigaud's PERFECT SHOT (for which I just posted the Cover Story earlier this month!). Ari's site is fantastic because it explores diversity in YA books, and she writes great reviews (check out her holiday gift guide). Thanks, Kelsey and Ari. I love book exchanges, and I can't wait to read this one!

Why a Book?

candle-front.jpgLove this indiebound campaign that Nicole pointed out to me. It's true, right? And some great paperbacks cost as little as $6 NEW! *cough* Lovestruck Summer *cough*I said this in my newsletter, but I'll repeat it here: If you're buying any of my books as gifts this holiday season, email me your address and I'll send you a signed bookplate--dedicated to whomever you wish, even yourself--in the mail. Signed books are extra special. I have a whole shelf of them that I completely treasure! Happy Sunday. PS-Raschel's Reads has a fun Holiday Wishlist Contest going--you could win a PC + Kristin Cast book. Go enter!

My New Moon Style

Okay, so last year I realized that Edward Cullen and I have the same vertical bookshelf, which was pretty cool. And now, during New Moon, I recognized my bedroom lamp in Bella's bedroom! Seriously, I am starting to feel really good about my design choices. Here it is ($20 at Ikea): lamp.jpg And yes, I did adore the movie. I'm 100% Team Jacob (honestly, I just do not get the appeal of Edward, especially in the face of gorgeous, warm, caring, puppy-dog Jacob). bellajacob.jpg That is all.
