Photo Friday: Musee Mecanique

The Musee Mecanique in San Francisco is a FAVORITE. It's an antique arcade extraordinaire, and I highly recommend it. A little family time in San Fran, where a couple of my cousins live.Today, we visited the California Academy of Sciences, which my biology teacher mother LOVED (and I did too). Sharks, ideas for saving the world (notice how many involve toilet habits!) and organic, yummy lunch (with my favorite Fizzy Lizzy's grapefruit soda). Yay! Happy Friday!

Cover Story coming very soon--I promise!Now, here are some fun shots from last weekend, when Brooklyn Bowl hosted Guns n' Roses cover band Mr. Brownstone, and we got to BOWL! The scoreboard. Note Anne's triple strikes in the last frame. I mean, who DOES THAT?! Mr. Brownstone does "Patience"... and I put my Zippo app in the air. And I was dressed all in blue (this self-take got the disco ball in back, which was key): Yay! Happy Friday! I hope you have an excellent weekend! PS-Another thrilling thing this week: Pomegranates were on SALE at my grocery store. This made me v. excited.

Yesterday I saw this guy at my lunch spot (he's reading...). It was hard for me to get my word count done because, hello, there was a film crew taping an alien puppet right near me. If I were writing a different kind of book, this probably would have crept into the pages. But really, I love autumn with aliens in Brooklyn. Happy Friday!

On Wednesday I put on a purple skirt and purple tights and headed to the High School of Fashion Industries in Manhattan... It was awe-some. And they're totally all on twitter. They've been so supportive of the Violet books, and they had this lovely display all set up in the library! In domestic news, I made Squash Soup (with homemade croutons!) this week. This week, I was a little bit Martha Stewart and a lot bit loving my city. Oh, and I read an awesome book, too. Photo Friday: Farm Shares and Rainbow Nails

This week we got a huge farm share delivery, full of all this stuff: I worked at the garden this week, so I snapped a pic of the pears and apples we got, which are delish: And I went to the Spa Week event, where there was a chocolate fountain (missed you, Charles!) and I got my nails done so that the ring finger was a rainbow. It's a sticker trick, but it looks good, right (sorry so fuzzy)? And, finally, my cats are cute. That's Swayze squeezing himself into the corner of our clear coffee table sideways, and Winnie in the window, looking intense (and possibly evil) as usual. Happy Friday! Photo Friday: Haircut!

I got another haircut. I think the seasons changing makes me want to snip some hair off my head. But I always get the same boring haircut, so I made things more exciting by photographing it in "heat sensor," "cartoon" and "x-ray" styles. Weird? One day I'll be brave enough to go very short, a la Mia Farrow in Rosemary's Baby (left). That's my dream haircut, but I'm too chicken. Isn't it divine? Happy Friday!
